How to fill in the monthly budget planner
- Write your take-home income at the top: every paycheck and any other income.
- Fill in your needs: rent, utilities, groceries, insurance, transportation, minimum debt payments. Aim for about 50%.
- Fill in your wants: dining out, subscriptions, shopping, fun money. Aim for about 30%.
- Fill in your savings: emergency fund, extra debt payments, sinking funds. Aim for about 20%.
- Check the summary. Income minus needs, wants and savings should equal $0. Every dollar has a job.
